Following a dream, a tradition, and racing with heart. We are average RED WHITE & BLUE (collar) Americans. As we build our race team from the ground up, join us on the track! Support our Mom N’ Pop team and watch us grow to the top! Racing in the NASCAR Youth Series we push for a wonderful new generation of OUR racers, ones who work hard and earn what they have built - train, bleed and sweat for what they earn! Our goal is to start a new community of race families, supporting these kids as they grow their future and growing our team with LOCAL and Small Business Owners. Not everyone has the means to start off with the Jones’, but some are lucky enough to be born with heart as well as the drive and push to make their dreams a reality! This is our Race! Watch and cheer us on!

We are asking for help, looking for Sponsors. We want to showcase small business in our local area car! We are a traveling team, people all across the nation would have the chance to see different business and what they have to offer. We have many options for sponsorships! We need your help and support! At the bottom of our page I have added those details. Donations of any kind to help these kids hit their dreams are welcomed! We appreciate everyone who already supports Smith Racing! Come watch and cheer us on at the tracks!

SMITH RACING Est. 2023

The ‘99’ Car

The unwrapped, screwed together, taped up and patched in car you see here is the jewel in our crew! Right now we only have the one car in our fleet of Quarter Midgets and it is driven by Colton Smith! He is 5 years old and just started in the NASCAR Youth Series. His father, Zachary Smith, and Grandfather, Kevin Smith, worked hard to get him in this car. This Car is PROUDLY numbered after Colton’s Grandfather and biggest hero, Kevin Smith #99.

As a retired racer himself, Kevin, knew how much this meant for Colton. The original ‘99 car in the Smith Racing Team has long been retired but was driven proudly by Grandpa. She was a stunning 1968 Satellite. His racing career started in 1988, but his love for racing began many many years before. Throughout this time the #99 was passed down to several beautifully fast cars, and now is proudly passed down to our QM. Our #99 Quarter Midge was to race the first run of the season! FIRST CAREER RACE for Colton. February 23, 2024 in Cumming, GA. He was to hit the track for the first time. Colton is the youngest racer in the series. Youngest to register and to race.

Colton and the other drivers have a bond like nothing I have ever seen before. It’s like they speak the same-different language-if that makes sense! They are all such good hearted kids. A group of boys I know my son will grow up together with. A friendship that will last forever.

Laughing and playfully shoving each other around, like boys do, he waved them off with a smile and fist bump saying, “Have fun out there!” The pride he has in his #99 is like none other! He loves his car! He loves his friends! He loves his NGQMA family, but most of all he loves the race!

The first race was called, Colton lined up with his friends, took a deep breath, smiled at Dad and Grandpa and climbed in the #99.

Colton’s first race, “DRIVERS START YOUR ENGINES!” He was off. Watching from the grandstands, my heart exploded out of my chest with both fear and pride. I knew he had been training all year for this moment! Waking up early, practicing in the freezing winter wind. The men who love him, right there on the track with him.

“SPIN OUT! SPIN OUT! ON TURN TWO!” The yellow flag whipping in the wind. I couldn’t watch, but I had to. Boys racing their hearts out, passing and pushing hard around each and every turn on the asphalt track. People cheering for their teams and children.

The boys lined back up, one lap around. Our kid in fourth for the restart. Colton was behind a couple of his friends I had watched practice earlier. They were so driven and were working so hard, just like my kid. I knew the spark all of these boys carried inside of them! Something about a racer, it’s a different kind of fire that burns in them. With experience and age under their belts.., “GREEN FLAG!” Five laps to go! At this point i was cheering so hard I couldn’t feel the chilled air any longer! The parents next to me had to be feeling the same way!

The boys came around turn three, two laps to go! One of the other boys was in the lead, racing hard, the tight cuts he made around those turns were impressive. Colton held strong though, right on his tail pipes with his #99! Everyone wanted to get to the end first!

“WHITE FLAG! FINAL LAP!” Down the straight away they go, Colton now in second! It was a full blown drag race now between Colton and his buddy. One last turn! CHECKERED FLAG OUT! Waving! Taunting these boys!

“OH MY GOSH! COLTON SMITH PASSED AND TAKES THE LEAD CROSSING THE FINISH LINE WITH THE VICTORY AND CHECKERED FLAG!” I am screaming pushing though the crowd of parents who stood up to go see their own child. I run to my boy as he finishes his first ever victory lap and takes Victory Lane as the 1st Place Winner! First race in the 2024 season! Colton’s very first career race! First win!

“MOM STOP! I’m not a baby and everyone is watching! Don’t kiss me!!”

I was so proud. Our car was not the newest or the grandest, we weren’t the oldest or most experienced, but I believe there is a reason we won ..HEART! Like I said earlier, a different kind of fire buns in the chest of true Racers.

Praise God. 2 Timothy 4:7 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

GOD. FAMILY. RACE.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
